Social Media Internship

Are you interested in whether social media can help you to explore possible careers and make useful contacts?
Do you want to show future employers that you are 'digitally literate'?
The University of Derby Career Development Centre seeks 20 second and third year career interns to explore how to use social media effectively for career development over a six week period during February and March 2012.
During the Internship you will:
- receive training on how best to use social media for career development
- have the opportunity to experiment with social media and explore how best to use it to your professional advantage
- reflect on experiences and knowledge gained through the development of a blog
- develop skills to be able to make best use of social media for career planning and to network effectively with key people, including future employers
- locate vacancies and other opportunities aimed at undergraduate students
- pass on what you have learnt to your other students to engage them in their own career development
- for those who complete, receive a certificate of participation which will appear on your university transcript
Who can apply?
- Any University of Derby second and third year student
- No prior experience of social media required, just a willingness to develop your career and experiment with new ideas.
- You will receive a training session in the use of social media for career planning and on going mentoring and support
