Need help writing a CV?
Your CV should allow an employer to quickly see an outline of your qualifications, experience and skills and how they meet their own requirements.
What should be in a CV?
Tailor your CV to every type of job and employer you send it to. A good CV layout ensures a prospective employer quickly finds the information about you they need. It should include:
- Personal details
- Personal profile and career objective
- Education
- Experience
- Positions of responsibility, achievements and interests
- Referees
It's important to provide evidence of when and how you have demonstrated your skills.

Skills based CV
This demonstrates evidence of skills most relevant to the job or employer. Key skills are brought together under relevant headings and evidence of relevant experience listed.
Chronological CV
A traditional format. Work experience and education is given in reverse chronological order. It's easier to organise and can demonstrate your career progression.
