Our Students' Union organises great events on and off campus, as well as running several facilities around the Campus
Two of the biggest events in our social calendar are the Graduation Ball and Westfield Student Lockdown, which have featured acts such as Example, The Saturdays, The Wombats, Mr Hudson and Zane Lowe.
September 2012 will also bring the Freshers’ Fortnight, looking to be one of the biggest and busiest on record when it gets underway on Saturday 15 September.
During the fortnight, you’ll make friends and have lots of fun at sports tournaments, themed nights, barbecues, comedy nights, bowling, pool and quasar sessions, go-karting, Alton Towers, ghost walks, cinema screenings and exercise classes, as well as traditional favourites such as the Freshers’ Party and the Freshers’ Fair.
Last year was a massive success with the Welcome Party, Street Party, UV Party, four club nights, various day trips and many more events all going down a storm with both Freshers and current students. This year promises to be even better with some exciting new events that will blow you away!
Freshers’ Fair is one of the largest events of Freshers’ Fortnight. You’ll get loads of freebies and lots of information from a range of organisations, and you’ll have the chance to join sports clubs and societies.
Our Students’ Union also runs the student bar, The Academy and coffee shop Blends, which are great places to meet with friends and grab something to eat between lectures.
You may prefer to spend your spare time getting involved with activities. There are a whole range of sport teams and societies available for you to join at Derby, so whether you’re interested in film, comic books or dance there is something for everyone.
