Culture and arts
The QUAD arts centre showcases visual arts, film and media, and is a big supporter of our graduates.
Derby Live runs a number of theatre venues, which offer a wide variety of entertainment including comedy, drama, music, pantomime and opera.
Déda Dance is a dedicated dance centre, offering performances and classes in a range of techniques and styles.
Derby Theatre is a vibrant venue with an exciting programme of artistic performances. It is also a ‘learning theatre’, unique in the country, in which our Theatre Arts students can put theory into practice.
Derby also boasts magnificent outside spaces and parks – the biggest one is Markeaton Park, which is right next to our Campus.
Buxton
Buxton also boasts a thriving arts scene. Buxton Opera House is one of the UK's leading theatres, and hosts gigs as well as some films. Enjoy great value tickets with your student card.
Regular gigs take place most nights somewhere in Buxton. Pubs and bars such as The Orchestra Pit host live music, with a range of styles from jazz and soul to acoustic sessions by local artists.
