Our Campuses
If you're thinking of coming to study at the University, you'll want to know about what the city of Derby has to offer you
Derby, Buxton and Chesterfield
Derby is a compact and bustling city, one of the safest in the United Kingdom, with other major cities such as Birmingham, Sheffield, Nottingham and London between just half an hour and ninety minutes away via our mainline train station.
Derby is a culturally diverse city, with over 170 different nationalities living here and around 71 different languages spoken. It has venues for a great student night out whether you want music, food, cinema or theatre.
Over the last few years we have spent over £100m on improving our facilities, including £23m on campus improvements, a £21m new teaching centre, an all-weather sports pitch, a brand new Students’ Union bar and the £3.3m Kirtley Building.
We’re aiming high with our sports facilities too, so that we can climb the Top 50 British Universities and Colleges Rankings (BUCS). We’ve developed Team Derby to enable students to participate in sports and fitness activities.
Derby
Our Derby Campus sits just outside the city centre, with all our halls of residence within walking distance of both. You’ll find easy access to everything you’ll need, from local facilities and transport to shopping and nightlife.
The majority of our courses are based at our Derby Campus, including Biology, Business Studies, Computer Science, English, Fine Art, Film Studies, Geography, Geology, History, Journalism, Law, Marketing, Mathematics, Psychology and Zoology.
Buxton
Buxton is home to our second campus, a picturesque town in the middle of enchanting Peak District countryside and just one hour from both Derby and Manchester. Subjects based at Buxton include Outdoor Activity Leadership, Sports Coaching and Tourism Management.
Chesterfield
The historic market town of Chesterfield's campus offers a modern, friendly and supportive learning environment, providing the opportunity to study the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree and the Mentoring in Practice module.
Derbyshire
Derby, Buxton and Chesterfield are all located in the central English county of Derbyshire, an area offering a high standard of living and fantastic employment prospects, but which ranks among the least expensive places to live in the UK.
