Eating and dining

"On a budget or splashing out the choice in Derby is huge"

Derby is a multicultural city, with shops and markets selling food from all over the world, and to suit every mood

The weekly shop

For the weekly shop there are plenty of supermarkets including a Tesco, two Sainsbury’s and a big ASDA. If you fancy something different or you’re after a taste of home there are also specialist shops in other areas of Derby like Normanton, which sell Indian, Asian and Eastern European food.

Derby also hosts monthly farmers’ markets, selling fresh breads, cheeses and meats from local producers. As well as occasional continental and Christmas markets, with lots of different foods on offer from all over the world.

Eating out

Whether you’re after chilled Tapas, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai or an All-You-Can there are plenty of options. Derby has some great independent restaurants as well as well-known names like Byron Burgers, Turtle Bay, Las Iganas, Nando’s and TGI Friday’s.  There are also plenty of great takeaways for when you want the food to come to you.
