Your first few weeks will be fast-paced and packed with new information and chances to socialise. You’ll be in a new city, trying to make sense of everything coming your way, surrounded by people you don’t know yet – but everybody around you is in the exact same situation.
That's why the University provides plenty of information and support to cover every aspect of your new student life once you've arrived.

Most first year students move into halls during Welcome Weekend, just before our current students arrive. To make it as easy as possible, some of you will move in on the Saturday and the rest on the Sunday – we’ll let you know in good time when you’ll need to arrive.
If you have a disability, health condition, learning difficulty or mental illness, our Get Ahead programme will give you the best possible preparation for student life. It takes place on the Thursday and Friday before Welcome Weekend and includes workshops, tours and social events.
As it’s such a big step for everyone when someone in your family starts thinking about going to university, we like to involve the whole family though our Family Programme. When your family join they will get:
You’ll usually enrol for your course online. Don’t worry if you’re not sure about anything or don’t know what modules you want to study, as we’ll be here to advise and support you.
When you’ve enrolled you’ll get your student ID card, which means you can use our facilities and services, as well as receive your student loan.
During your induction you’ll:
