We come into existence. Many questions are asked. Many answers are offered. Many stories about existence and our place in it have evolved, and continue to do so. We may wonder how we are to evaluate these stories, and whether any of them are compatible with any others. We may wish to consider their relevance, if any, to the daily business of living.
The work of this group is not tied to any religion or system of ideas: its purpose is exploratory.
Clearly, no such group can function without:
- Good listening skills
- Basic courtesy and respect for others, and their right to express their opinion in a proper manner
- Moderation and discipline in the expression of views, beliefs, and comments – however deeply held
- Group responsibility to include all members in the discussion, giving people who wish to speak the opportunity to do so in the limited time available
Subject to the above fair and reasonable conditions, all are welcome to participate in trying to develop worthwhile discussion. Whilst we may regret the fact that answers cannot be guaranteed, it is possible that growth in understanding, clarity of thought, and discussion skills, may well develop.
