Tourism facilities

Our Campus at the Dome, Buxton town and the Derbyshire Peak District are tourist destinations in their own right, offering a wealth of practical experience to our Tourism Management students.

Opportunities include:

  • placements at the many tourism related businesses in the Peak District
  • conducting guided tours of the historical campus at the Dome
  • getting involved in the many festivals and events in Buxton and the surrounding area
  • taking part in land and water based activities in the Peak District

The close partnership we have with Visit Peak District offers many placement opportunities and has resulted in the joint development of Inspired by the Peak - an online shop showcasing tourist experiences and local produce.

Prominent, nearby tourist destinations include Manchester and Sheffield, whilst locally accessible visitor attractions include Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, Lyme Park in Cheshire and Alton Towers in Staffordshire. Our proximity to Manchester Airport provides our students with project work opportunities.
