My education at Derby
I came to the UK to continue my education after graduating from the University of Silesia. I started off studying the BA (Hons) International Business Management and then decided to continue to masters study as I thought that it could give me the "extra factor"!
Studying at masters level was different to what I expected. The lecturers put a great emphasis on the practical aspect of the subjects that we study. We are encouraged to challenge theories and literature, and express our own opinions.
A global experience
Throughout my course I have met a lot of fantastic people from all over the world. These other students had interesting points of view and a broad spectrum of opinions on various aspects of business, which was shaped by their experiences.
This was especially inspiring during our residential. By taking up different tasks we discovered the value of team work and the importance of good cooperation and leadership. For me, the residential was an excellent experience as I have never been in a situation that would resemble a real business situation before. I really enjoyed working with other students on the tasks and that was a fantastic opportunity to learn from them and see the world from a different perspective.
A challenge - but it's worth it
A masters course is very demanding, but getting good marks on such a difficult course is really rewarding!
The masters course has taught me patience, diligence and time management. I have also learnt how to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I hope that once I graduate I will be able to transfer these skills to the workplace.
