“The knowledge and experiences that I've gained during the masters in management have made me a lot more confident. I was a very shy person in the beginning of this course but now I have the confidence to face large audiences and speak!”

Harveen Dhamrait is 23 and currently studying a masters in management.

From computing to management

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) IT, but decided to continue my education to masters level in management as I wanted to get more experience in this field.

So far, the course has been really interesting and is meeting all of my expectations.

A great start to the programme

At the start of the programme I went on a three day residential to Scalford Hall. Those three days were unforgettable! I learnt so many things that I would have never picked up just reading books. It was all about practical and real life examples.

The lecturers were very friendly. They engaged us in networking and loads of group exercises to ensure we all got to make new friends.

We often get to work in groups, which helps us to improve our networking skills, and there are lots of presentations involved as well.

Assessments are tough, and sometimes the deadlines are all together, so time management skills and hard work are definitely part of what you need to get a good masters degree.

I've become far more confident in myself and my abilities

The knowledge and experiences that I've gained during the masters in management have made me a lot more confident. I was a very shy person in the beginning of this course but now I have the confidence to face large audiences and speak!

I was very unsure about whether I should continue my studies to masters level. I'm very pleased that I made the right decision - I would have missed so much in life if I hadn't have done this course!

I'd definitely recommend a masters qualification at Derby

This course has changed my life. During the residential, the first lesson I learnt was to 'plan' before you 'do'. If you plan well, you can implement it well. Now, wherever I go, whatever I do, I always make a plan! And, surprisingly, I even apply theories and business models that I have learnt from this course, in my daily life. This course has really changed my life.
