“Well done, I thought everything went very well, a massive task which was organised very efficiently with minimum disruption
A survey of some of the first staff to be moved as part of the University towers’ refenestration project has shown an overwhelmingly positive response.
Staff in the North Tower – the first of the three Kedleston Road towers affected by the project – have been moved into and out of their offices to allow internal works associated with the mass refenstration to be completed.
Of the 33 staff who completed an online questionnaire (from the 112 people contacted for a response) 94% reported being moved out and back into their office on time. The same percentage thought the new windows were better than or as good as they expected them to be.
Categories that received an ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ rating from the survey’s respondents included office furniture being returned to its original layout, cleanliness and also information technology set-up.
Staff surveys will continue as the refenestration work progresses, with people being directed to the website questionnaire once they are moved back into their offices.
Around 40% of the work on the North Tower has now been completed. The main work is scheduled to continue into May for floors one to seven and floor eight is programmed to be completed in early summer
Additional comments by staff on the organisation of the office moves, collected for an interim report by University Space Planning Manager Rob Low, included:
- "Plenty of notice. Very helpful face to face contact with the team who checked arrangements prior to the move. Smooth, efficient organisation."
- “Well done, I thought everything went very well, a massive task which was organised very efficiently with minimum disruption.’
And on the new windows:
“Much better ventilation, temperature control and light.”
