Buxton to Derby Bike Ride
8th Annual Buxton to Derby Bike Ride
Would you like to get fit, and raise some money for Cardiac Risk in the Young at the same time?
Last year, in National Bike Week, over 60 staff and students cycled from Derby to Buxton. All had a fantastic time, raising over £2,000 for Derbyshire Air Ambulance.
You might find you like it, and after riding to Buxton, riding to University seems easy!
We've decided to stick with the alleged "downhill!" from Buxton to Derby. Don't worry, you don't have to ride both ways. One-way transport is available for staff and students by minibus, (bikes are put in a van!)
We've set the route to avoid main roads, and will use National Cycle Routes, and back roads for the vast majority of the journey.
For those who want a bit more of a challenge, the 70 mile Challenge route will be making a re-appearance - all we ask is that you raise at least £100 sponsorship if doing the longer route!
Photo Competition
There will be a prize for what the University of Derby Bike User Group judge to be the best photo taken during the event. Photographs may also be used in a display after the event.
Download a registration form (Word, 1.13Mb) or contact the Transport Office (ext 1115).
The good news for staff is that as last year, a day's 'special leave' has been granted by John Coyne, for participants, subject to their line managers agreement.
The event takes on Friday 15 June, and more details are available upon registration, which costs £7.50 and includes a T-shirt (any excess left after event costs is donated to the charity). Numbers are limited, particularly if you are requiring transportation, so please register soon. We ask all participants to raise at least £10 sponsorship (to be collected within a month of the end of the ride).
If you would like to give to Cardiac Risk in the Young and help us towards beating last year's total money raised, you can donate via our just giving account www.justgiving.com/2012UoDBuxtonDerbyBikeRide - Thanks!
