The University of Derby has today joined forces with a number of other partners in the city to give its backing to the national 10:10 campaign.

Fronted by the Derby Telegraph newspaper, and along with our other partners - Derby City Council, Derby Homes and Ecotek - we are urging people to try to cut their carbon emissions by 10% from 2010.

Over the course of the coming months, the Derby Telegraph and our other partners will be running an awareness campaign. We will be giving advice to individuals and businesses about how they can reduce their carbon footprint.

The Derby Telegraph will follow particular examples set by 10:10 partners, showing where they are taking the advice of experts, and will also be producing a series of supplements with tips that their readers can follow.

Today the University's Environment Manager Lynn Richards and Dr Richard Pope - its Reader in Environmental Magnetism, and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Geological Society - talk in the Derby Telegraph about the campaign and climate change.
