I was given a lot of support when looking for a placement position. Libby mentored me and prepared for my placement year and helped me to secure a placement.

The first step

If you're looking for a placement, you need to fill out a registration form and submit a CV and covering letter.

Contact Libby, the Placement Officer for details on how to do this:  a.e.beck@derby.ac.uk

You can also drop in to see her in the Placement Office - E505b.

It's never too late to register and search for a placement. The earlier you make a start, the better your chances of securing a good position.  So, what are you waiting for?

Find out what our students have to say about the placement experience.

The jobs board

Once you've registered you'll be given a password to access the jobs board.

This is a web based resource wherer we advertise vacancies.

In order to keep up to date with what's on offer, we strongly advise you to log on and take a look at least once a week from the beginning of your second year.

Once you have found a placement

There are a few things you'll need to do:

Inform Libby as soon as possible and let her have a copy of your offer letter and contract as confirmation of the placement.

You'll then be given your Task 1 forms. These form part of the management tasks for your placement year, and need to be completed and returned to Libby within two weeks of starting your placement.

We'll write to the company you'll be on placement with to outline the support that we offer.
