As Placement Officer for the Faculty of Business, Computing and Law I offer help and support to second year students who are looking for placement. I also look after the students who are on placement.
I supervise a team of three people who look after projects, research and external business.
I am managing a PebblePad project for the Faculty. PebblePad is an e-portfolio system on which students (and members of staff) can put examples of work, blogs, thoughts, notes etc. The list is practically endless!
The Faculty is trialling the package for the 09/10 academic year with the computing students who are looking for placement for the 10/11 academic year. The whole of the Personal and Professional Development module is being run through the package, including submission of assignments.
My other responsibilities include managing the annual monitoring reports (OASIS) process, managing the programme and module audit for the faculty and being assessment board secretary for the undergraduate Marketing and Strategy group.
I can help students and enquirers with:
Anything and everything about placements.
I hold one to one appointments with students to give advice on CVs, cover letters and how they can search for a placement in an efficient and effective manner.
I also speak to many different companies (from global organisations to SME's) about placements, the process and how a placement can benefit both the organisation and the student.
