Level 4 - 120 credits to complete the stage.

To progress to the next level, you must submit work for all your assessments in 120 credits worth of modules (6 standard 20 credit modules), and you must achieve at least 100 credits. If you fail one module (20 credits max), you can retake it the following year along with your next level of study.

Level 5 - 120 credits to complete the stage.

To progress to the next level, you must submit work for all your assessments in 120 credits worth of modules (6 standard 20 credit modules), and you must pass at least 100 credits. You must also have completed all 120 Level 4 credits. If you fail one module (20 credits max), you can retake it the following year along with your next level of study.

Compensation

If you have a 20 credit module that is marginally failed (34-39%) after the referral attempt, the assessment board will discuss whether the "compensate". If you have passed 80 credits in the level at 40% or better, and the overall average for the level is at least 40%, the assessment board may decide that you have shown good enough performance in the rest of your studies to compensate for the marginal failure. In this case they may decide to "compensate" the module, which means that the marks will stand, and credit will be awarded to help you progress or be awarded your qualification.

If you achieve fewer than 100 credits in a level you will need to make up the remaining modules on a part time basis to complete the level, and funding may be affected. For further information please contact the Student Records & Fees Unit.

For advice on specific implications for your course, contact your programme leader or Academic Counsellor for Joint Honours Students.
