Photography

On our BA (Hons) Photography course you'll be using dark rooms and studios that are well-equipped for both chemical and digital work. So you'll have lots of opportunities to explore different techniques and processes.

You could also join the thriving community of artists, designers and makers who have businesses at the University's Banks Mill Studios. As well as providing workspace, we provide business support activity including one-to-one advice, workshops, seminars and bi-annual Open Studios.

And if you'd like to continue your studies at postgraduate level and really develop your skills, there's our MA Still and Moving Image.  The course integrates theory and practice across lens-based media, dissolving the traditional boundaries between still and moving image to encourage both original thinking and individuality within a lively, challenging community.

Showcase your work

Everyone puts on a public exhibition in the final year, as part of the arts, design and technology Degree Shows. But we'll also encourage you to enter competitions while you're studying. There's also an opportunity to show off your work on Derby's BBC Big Screen - we're a major partner and are always looking for material to show. Local community screenings and film societies along with national and international festivals are other opportunities to get your work seen.

Promising careers
