Krishna's experience at Vogue
One of our BA (Hons) Fashion Studies students, Krishna Haveliwala, travelled to Massachusetts for three months to teach fashion to students aged up to 17 years. As part of her course Krishna decided to take a sandwich year so after she finished teaching she travelled to New York to start looking for her placement.
Each year Vogue offers 10 internships and Krishna managed to secure one of these places a year in advance after attending a two stage interview process.
Krishna started at Vogue a few days before New York's Fashion Week where she worked on describing the garments ready for their return and attending shows in between. After the fashion shows she worked on research boards to catalogue the collection trends.
Krishna also had to go out and collect the garments, and on photo shoots she had to ensure that all the garments were unpacked, steamed and laid out with accessories to match ready for the models.
Whilst she was there Sex and the City movie was being filmed so she worked with others to make sure the wedding dresses - which Sarah Jessica Parker wore - were ready and waiting.
Krishna has now finished her placement at Vogue but she has been offered a job at 10 Eleven fashion in LA after she also did some work experience from them during the summer.
