Student wins Tetley Photography Competition
Gabrielle's winning entry.
Gabrielle Prince is one of our Commercial Photography students here at Derby. She entered the Tetley Student Photography Competition and out of 400 entrants she came first!! She won the latest Fuji digital camera worth about £1,500 and £250 cash and an advert in the University Caterer magazine.
Gabrielle said, "I am absolutely delighted to have won the Tetley competition. It was a real shock when my tutor called to tell me and I'm really excited about having a new camera. I had been thinking recently that I needed to upgrade my kit but did not have the money, so the prize is a real bonus."
Mark Hall, Senior Lecturer in Photography at Derby said, "The competition certainly put the student's creativity to the test. The team here enjoyed collaborating and answering a specific technical brief with tough guidelines. Which is great experience for them as it is what they will experience when they work in a real commercial environment. We are really happy Gabrielle has won the contest."
Allen Hunt, Brand Manager for Tetley said, "The standard of entries was outstandingly strong...All of the entries showed amazing skill and creativity" and "The interpretations of the brief were exciting and innovative."
And further he said, "Gabrielle's entry stood out from the other as it combined creativity, technical skill and had a strong communication of the brief."
