Commercial Photography
Commercial Photography is accredited by the British Institute of Professional Photography
On our BA (Hons) Commercial Photography course you'll be using dark rooms and studios that are well-equipped for both chemical and digital work. So you'll have lots of opportunities to explore different techniques and processes.
You could also join the thriving community of artists, designers and makers who have businesses at the University's Banks Mill Studios. As well as providing workspace, we provide business support activity including one-to-one advice, workshops, seminars and bi-annual Open Studios.
And if you'd like to continue your studies at postgraduate level and really develop your skills, there's our MA Film and Photography. The course integrates theory and practice across lens-based media, dissolving the traditional boundaries between still and moving image to encourage both original thinking and individuality within a lively, challenging community.
Professional accreditation
Our course has been accredited by the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and has PQP status (Professional Qualifying Programme) enabling you to apply to have your portfolio assessed once you've graduated.
Excellent Placement Opportunities
Working on real projects for individuals and for companies and going on work placements is a key part of our commercial photography course. This will give you vital experience of what it's like to work in the industry and will look great on your CV.
Between stages two and three you can take an optional work placement during which you'll study an additional qualification, the Diploma in Professional Practice (DPP). This will look great on your CV and put you ahead of the competition. Find out more about the DPP.
