About the course

This course uses a mixture of technical and design oriented architectural subjects to give you distinct career advantages, complemented by the gaining of a recognised professional qualification.

The course is founded on core subject knowledge requirements of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). What makes it unique is its integrated environmental approach to design and application of CAD and BIM technology, digital design and building simulation systems, which have been carefully nurtured since the course began.

Practical architectural design and technology projects will form the basis of your study, supported by management, procurement and contracts as well as professional practice studies. There's also an optional year's placement in industry between stages two and three. We strongly encourage you to take a year out in industry and will help you find a suitable placement. The placement is also an excellent opportunity to gain the University Diploma in Professional Practice.

This course is professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).

You can study this course full time or you can top up an HND or foundation degree you already have, to gain a bachelor's degree. This is subject to all core CIAT requirements being met. You can also study stages two and three part time.

If you don't have the appropriate qualifications to start this course, you can study the Technology Foundation Programme for a year first.
