What are you doing now? Tell us about your journey since graduation

After I graduated in 2005 I went to America and taught drama on a summer camp and spent some time travelling. When I returned to the UK I started a marketing traineeship at Malvern Theatre in Worcestershire and from there I progressed to the role of Marketing Assistant at the RSC.

I’ve been at the RSC for four years after starting as an assistant; I’ve now worked my way up to Marketing Officer.

What were the main reasons you wanted to study Theatre Arts?

I wanted to work in theatre but was unsure in which area. The course at Derby offered me the chance to learn about all aspects of theatre, not just acting. It helped me make an informed decision to progress into arts marketing.

How would you sum up the experience of studying Theatre Arts at Derby and what were your highlights?

My three years at Derby were brilliant. I had some amazing opportunities to get involved in a variety of activities; from performing to stage management, and was lucky enough to perform at both the Edinburgh and Buxton Fringe Festivals during my time there.

Who are you still in touch with from University?

I’m still in touch with all my friends from the course, including Raj Chima who is now Marketing Manager at Derby Theatre and we regularly keep each other updated on what we’re up to.
