Gurdeep Bath now works in his family business -Perfection Foods
Gurdeep graduated in 2002 with a BA (Hons) Combined Business Studies and Psychology degree.
Gurdeep tells us about the family business
"I work for Perfection Foods and we're a family run business based in the West Midlands. We're a bakery producing over 40 different ranges of homemade and hand decorated cakes. My father started the business in 2000 while I was at university. He started by supplying small independent shops from then he branched out into regional bases, I slowly got more involved helping out.
I helped take Perfection Foods on to a national level and we started supplying Asda, Morrison's and some national wholesalers. I came into the business full time about 2 years ago and helped branch into an international level. We supply businesses across the UK, Europe and north Scandinavia.
Before working for the family business I worked in HR and tried teaching but my passion lies in sales, marketing and business development. I'm now an export manager looking after these areas."
Advice to students
"When it comes to your interview it's important to remember that first impressions and presentation are extremely important. As an employer I look for practical experience and basic things such as interpersonal skills and presentation skills."
