Where did you do your placement?

At BC International for 1 year, where I was a Product Developer for menswear, underwear and loungewear. A Product developer sees the process of design through to the product being shipped to store.

Why did you so the DPP?

A few reasons:

  • I did the DPP to make my CV look good.
  • I wanted to get experience in a working industry environment.
  • It gave me to opportunity to try something new.

I believe that the DPP has helped to prepare me for my final year at university. It also allowed me to build on skills that had previously let me down.

What did you learn while on your placement?

I've learnt so many new skills within areas I've never touched on before.

What did you like about the DPP?

I enjoyed the placement it enabled me to gain a lot of knowledge into prints and fabrics, which is going to benefit as this is what I am going to use in my final collection. Also I had the opportunity to travel abroad!

Why would you recommend that students should do the DPP?

My CV looks good. The placement I did was demanding emotionally, physically and financially but in the end is it 100% worth it. You come out of it with a separate qualification on top of your degree which will make you stand out to employers.

Do you have any tips?

Learn from your mistakes! And have fun
