Where did you do your DPP?
Eternal Spirits and I choose to go here because:
- I wanted to understand the ins and outs of a small business
- Draw together a business plan from an already successful business
- Liaise with her clients
- Gain structural awareness of corsetry
- Learn industrial methods - the short cuts.
Hope House Museum and I choose to go here because:
- I wanted to gain accurate dating techniques
- gain primary experience with antique clothing
- understand construction through the ages
- understand techniques of repair and restoration
- learn events management skills
- learn how to care and the conservation of historical clothing.
The placement allowed me to gain knowledge of all these things.
What did you do while on your DPP?
Lay plans and cutting fabric, pattern drafting, Manufacturing, production, line and piece work, embellishment and finishing, lace cutting, lace work, design and antique and costume clothing repair.
Why would you recommend the DPP to other students?
It will prepare you for your final year and you'll gain lots of new skills.
What did you get out of doing the DPP?
I brushed up on my not so satisfactory skills. I wanted to become more organised and having a 9am-5pm job has help me to do this. It's also helped me to collaborate all my thoughts and ideas for my final year project.
