Applying for a postgraduate course in Art and Design

When applying to study a postgraduate Art and Design course, you will need to complete three elements:

University Application Form

To apply for an Art and Design programme you will need to complete a University of Derby application form.

Portfolio and Creative Positioning Statement

As attachments to your online or paper application you will need to submit the following Visual Portfolio and Creative Positioning Statement;

Visual Portfolio: 8 visual examples of your practice, as jpeg files. Each of your 8 image files should not exceed 2mb. If your work is mainly moving image, please submit a maximum of 3 files, in QuickTime format. Each of your 3 moving image files must not exceed 5mb.

Creative Positioning Statement: A Microsoft word document of no more than 500 words, in response to the following headings; 1. My personal practice. 2. The area I would like to explore or develop through this undergraduate or postgraduate programme.

Meeting

Following submission of your application, you will be invited to a meeting with a member of the teaching team to discuss your application and visit the University. (You can request a telephone meeting or simply email your questions to the Programme Leader.) You will also be able to view many aspects of the School of Art and Design, the University, Halls of Residence and the city of Derby through the University of Derby website.
