September arrivals 2013

Welcome to our new students starting in September and welcome back to our second and third years!

Why do I need to attend an induction?

You must attend your induction session because:

  • You'll find out lots of important information for the coming year
  • You'll meet your lecturers and also the other students on the course
  • It'll help you to find your way around
  • You'll enrol for your course

Important

Even if you have already enrolled online, you still need to attend your induction session as you'll also need to confirm your enrolment.

Enrolling

There are two stages to enrolling:

  • Enrolment - you do this online or when you arrive as part of your induction.

If you've enrolled online and have any queries over your module choices, you'll be able to speak to an academic from your programme during your induction.

  • Confirmation of Enrolment - this takes place during induction and you MUST attend whether you enrol on-campus or online.

The Confirmation of Enrolment process activates your enrolment so that you become an official student. You will then be able to collect your ID card and access University facilities and services.

If you have arranged a student loan you will start to receive your loan payments once you have been through the Confirmation of Enrolment process. It also releases any bursary payments you may be eligible to.

If you are a part time student you will confirm your enrolment at the part time enrolment event. Visit our part time page for more information.

Finding your way

We know that finding your way around can be quite daunting when you first arrive, so please take a look at these maps and floorplans that'll help you until you settle in.

Help during enrolment

During full time induction week - Monday 17 September to Friday 21 September - our faculty stand will be in the Atrium at Kedleston Road (for Humanities courses) between 9am and 3pm, and in The Street at Markeaton Street (for Art and Design and Technology courses) between 9am and 3pm. If you have any queries regarding your induction or about the University, just come along and ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
