Company information and status

Status

The Univeresity of Derby was established on 14 January 1993 under the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act. It was subsequently incorporated as a limited company‌.  The company registration number is 3079282.  The University became an exempt charity by order in Council made on 30 November 1995 (SI 1995 No 2998).

Constitutional Documents

The University’s constitution comprises the Articles of Association and the Ordinances. The Ordinances are subject to the approval of Governing Council. They may be revised or amended by approval of the Governing Council at any properly constituted meeting of Council. The effect of any changes may be immediate or at some agreed date.  Changes to the Articles of Association can be made by the Governing Council with the consent of the Privy Council.
