This Faculty is made up of three schools.

The School of Art and Design

This School delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas such as fine art; photography; fashion; textiles; visual communication (graphics,illustration,animation), and fi lm and video production.
All of these programmes focus on encouraging students to explore their personal creativity. We encourage them to be original and develop their individuality and personal voice, in order to prepare them for an exciting career in the creative industries.

The School of Engineering and Technology

This School provides courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the following subject areas: electrical and electronic engineering; mechanical engineering; manufacturing and production engineering; civil engineering; architectural technology and design; construction management; product design; motorsport;music technology and production.

Reasons for studying a technology subject at Derby include our excellent facilities and highly relevant courses, some of which have professional accreditation from bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The School of Humanities

This School offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a diverse range of subjects, including english; creative writing; history; american studies;film and TV; media, and theatre.

All of our experienced tutors are active researchers, so they are experts in their chosen field. They teach in modern and engaging ways, using online learning, screenings of visual material and classroom debate and discussion, as well as through study visits, learning within a workplace and visiting speakers.
